Diego Pablo Simeone analysed at the press conference the goalless draw at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. The Argentinian coach said, "I thought it was a very exciting match. In the first half they had some chances and we had two or three counters in the second to take the match to our side. I loved the effort of the 22 who played. I wasn’t wrong when I said that Sevilla would be fighting for the European positions as it is doing."

Atlético’s coach also had words for Saúl: "We have talked with him on the phone several times. He’s recovering quite well. He’s a rebellious boy, with a lot of energy and we will soon have him competing for the minutes he wants so much."

One of the names of the match was that of Fernando Torres, who entered in the second half: "His entering boosted our counter-attacks and offensive connections. From minute 15, or more, of the second half, you could see that we could be dangerous in some counter-attacks. The coming of Torres to the team makes me very happy. We need men of his characteristics and the enthusiasm with which he took the field. We need people who understand that no-one is more important than the team, no-one. Not even the coach.
