When asked about the similarities between both teams, Simeone noted, “We aren’t the same, but we have similar approaches. One is the least scored defence in the Premier and so are we in the Spanish League. Furthermore, they have a game that’s quite direct and a good set piece”.

Regarding tomorrow’s fixture that will measure us to Chelsea, emphasized, “It’s a Champions semifinal and I imagine a close match, decided by the details or by individual technical quality, powered by team work”.

At this point of the season, Diego Pablo Simeone believes, “Words account for little. Filling newspapers with headlines is good for journalists, to us, facts are important, how to prepare the fixture and get to it as best as possible. Eventually, I will speak to the players spontaneously about what I feel, that’s the best way of expressing a feeling”.

In addition, the Atlético coach had some warm words for Fernando Torres. “He loves this Club very much, he’s always cared for what’s going on with the team. He’ll probably play and it’ll be normal that when the referee blows the whistle, the fans will not support him, but when the match is over and before it starts, he’ll have ovation he deserves. He’s a home-grown boy, a loved boy. He’ll always be from Atlético de Madrid, wherever he is”.

Lastly, he claimed that for the remaining season, “There may be better players in teams we face, but few who are more excited”, he concluded.
