Simeone: "Due to the result, it's an open qualifying round"
Diego Pablo Simeone said that his team played well defensively and that the game was under control until the goal. And he said his team is used to competing until the end.
Regarding next Wednesday’s match, Atlético’s coach said, "I see the second leg with open possibilities, against a rival that plays well. Due to the result that occurred, it’s an open qualifying round."
As to whether he thinks his team received too much of a punishment, he replied: "I thought the game was controlled defensively, with few outlets for counterattacks and little chances of a goal from us, but controlled. The goal came and now we’ll have to wait for the second leg. I imagine it won’t be easy either."
In the morning, the agreement with Wanda Group had been made official, to which he commented: "Anything that keeps adding positive things for the Club is welcome. Enrique and Miguel Ángel are there, and when they return they’ll tell us a bit more, but it’s great."
