A TEMPLE OF FOOTBALL WHICH HAS HOSTED THREE EUROPEAN FINALS

San Siro, the home of two rivals

The AC Milan stadium is one of the most impressive temples of football. Its various extensions have made him one of the best stadiums on the continent. Great moments in football history have been lived on that pitch.

Located at the western edge of the city, with a capacity of 82.955 spectators, steep stands with three tiers give the air of an impregnable fortress.

It is the home ground of both teams in the city of Milan, AC Milan and Inter Milan. In 1926, the inaugural game, a Milan derby was played there and Inter Milan won by 6 goals to 3. The stadium, which the clubs have shared since 1935 was renovated for the World Cup in 1990. The first championship game was played there on October 6 between Milan - Sampierdarenese 1 -2, while its international baptism dates back to February 20, 1927 for Italy - Czechoslovakia 2 -2.

The ground has also played host to three finals in the UEFA Champions League. The first, in 1965 between Inter Milan and Benfica. The final victory went to the Italians. In the second, held five years later, Feyenoord and Celtic were the stars of a match that finished in a win for the Dutch. The last of these three important events was in 2001. This time Bayern Munich and CF Valecia. They played a vibrant meeting that was decided by a shootout win for the Bavarians.
