Salvio has a successful operation at the Fremap Clinic in Majadahonda

The Argentine has a 6.5 mm screw inserted in his foot

Eduardo Salvio, Atlético de Madrid player, who is currently on loan at Benfica in Portugal, underwent a successful operation at the Fremap Clinic in Majadahonda on the base fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot (Jones Fracture) which occurred during the match that the Portuguese side was playing against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.

José María Villalón, Club Chief of Medical Services, supervised the entire operation. After arriving in Barcelona, he headed to the hospital in the Madrid outskirt and remained there for the hour that the operation lasted. The surgery was carried out by Doctors Fermín García de Lucas, G López and Jose De Felipe, who performed a closed reduction and internal fixation with a 6.5 mm cannulated screw inserted from the base of the metatarsal bone.

Eduardo Salvio, in exclusive statements made to the Club wed page, said that I’m fine and looking forward to getting back. I hope that the recovery goes well and that I’ll be able to return to the pitch as soon as possible.”

The player preferred to be cautious and didn’t speak about how long he’ll be out, assuring that “unfortunately, this season is over for me and I can only think about being in top form for when the preseason starts.”

All injuries come at a bad time, but what Salvio has had to endure will keep him from playing in the Portuguese Cup Final, the League Cup Final and the Europa League semi-finals. “It’s a shame not to be able to be with my teammates at such an important point in the season. Everything was going well for me, but then the injury came. I can’t feel sorry for myself right now. I have to think positively and be ready to get back to work,” assured the Argentine.
