Atlético de Madrid completed their penultimate training session before taking on Villarreal on Saturday. It was a short practice that lasted just one hour, and only the opening minutes were open to the media. The rest of the session was held behind closed doors. Tiago didn’t take the pitch alongside his teammates as he was feeling muscular pain and stayed in the dressing room to treat the injury with the Club physical therapists.
Diego Costa was forced to leave the training shortly after it began. The Brazilian, who had also retired from Thursday’s practice due to a blow to the back, was still feeling the effects of that muscle pain and headed for the clubhouse. Minutes later Sergio Agüero joined him as an early scratch as a precaution.
The squad will train once against on the morning of Saturday 5 March, hours before they are to kick-off against Villarreal. After this brief session, Quique Sánchez Flores will release the ‘rojiblanco’ squad list for the match.
