No success at Balaídos

Atlético de Madrid lost at Balaídos to a well-aimed Celta. Nolito put the locals ahead with a controversial previous play and Orellana decided to game.

The game began with a lot of pressure from Celta, looking to surprise an Atlético de Madrid that found it hard to get into the match. The Galicians had more possession of the ball, but without creating any danger to get ahead on the scoreboard.

However, in the second half, the blue team took advantage of a controversial play to get ahead on the scoreboard. A clear hand by a player of Celta in their box was not called out as a foul by Martínez Munuera and the play ended in a penalty. Nolito did not miss and put his team ahead.

Atlético de Madrid launched an all-out attack and Saúl, first and Griezmann afterwards met Sergio, who made two good saves. In the Frenchman’s, he was even lucky enough that the shot hit the goalpost and went back to his hands. Orellana didn’t miss and on 71 minutes, crossing a shot that sentenced the match. Even though our guys tried, Martínez Munuera did not see a clear penalty of Fontas on Siqueira on 77’. And Mandžukić saw how the local goalie stopped his header on 79’.
