Nicolás Ibáñez, Axel Werner to join Atlético de San Luis on loan
Atlético de Madrid has reached an agreement with sister club Atlético de San Luis over the loan of Nicolás Ibáñez and Axel Werner for the 2019/2020 season.
Atlético de Madrid and Atlético de San Luis have reached an agreement for Nicolás Ibáñez and Axel Werner to play on loan at the Mexican club, who have just achieved promotion to their country’s first division, the upcoming season.
Nicolás Ibáñez, 24, is a product of the Lanús academy, and has also played for Argentine sides Club Comunicaciones and Gimnasia y Esgrima. After that, he joined Atlético de San Luis, with whom he achieved promotion to the Liga MX this season. He has played 43 matches and scored 22 goals for the Mexican club.
Axel Werner joined our club in 2016. After spending the 2016/2017 season on loan at Boca Juniors, the goalkeeper made his way into Atleti’s first squad the following year, playing three games at our club (two in the Europa League and one in LaLiga) and winning the Europa League. For the 2018/2019 season, Werner joined Huesca (with whom he played six league games and two cup matches) and then Málaga on loan.
