Atlético de Madrid and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mario Mandžukić. The Croatian striker successfully underwent the medical examination in Madrid before signing a contract for four years with our Club.

The 28-year-old international striker began his professional career in Croatian clubs such as NK Zagreb or Dinamo Zagreb. With the latter he won three Leagues and two Cups before landing in Germany, specifically in Wolfsburg, where he would play two seasons scoring 20 goals. In 2012, Bayern Munich would recruit him and the Croatian would respond with 47 goals in two seasons, that helped conquer a Champions League, a European Super Cup, a Clubs World Cup, two Bundesligas, two German Cups and a German Super Cup.

Mandžukić has also given ample samples of his scoring abilities in his 52 matches with Croatia, scoring 15 goals. In the recent Brazil World Cup, the striker managed two goals against Cameroon to make him the best player of the match, while in the Euro 2012, he shared the top scorer title with three goals.

For José Luis Pérez Caminero, "the incorporation of Mario Mandžukić is great news because he has the features we were looking for to cover this position. He’s a strong forward, with a great high ball control and a powerful shot. It allows us to start pressuring behind the rival from the beginning, because he works hard on playing the ball out of defence. He fits well with his attacking teammates and is used to competing at the highest level. He’s a winner, a player used to win titles. He’ll contribute very much".
