Lemar goal earns Atleti late win over Eibar

Our team earned a 1-0 away win against Eibar on Saturday as Lemar struck in the 85th minute to give us the three points.

Atleti earned a late win against Eibar at Ipurua on Saturday thanks to a late goal from Lemar.

Our team had a great chance very early on. A very good through ball from Morata found Correa, but Dmitrovic made a fantastic save to deny the Argentine. Ten minutes later, it was the Spaniard who received a good pass, this time from Thomas, but the defenders got there in time as our striker was about to shoot.

Simeone’s men controlled the remainder of the first half, although neither side had any more good chances to score. However, just after the break, Eibar had a great chance to take the lead. Jordan crossed the ball and Sergi Enrich headed it just wide. Our team answered right away, as Vitolo found Morata and the Spaniard’s shot went just wide. Shortly thereafter, we had another very good chance. This time it was Koke who struck from outside the box, but Dmitrovic made a fine save to deny our midfielder.

Ten minutes into the second half, Simeone decided to make the first substitution, as Correa made way for Lemar. Not long after, Filipe Luis came on for Vitolo, which meant that Saúl moved further up the pitch, having started at left-back. And 20 minutes before the end of the game, Simeone made the final substitution, as Kalinic came on for Arias. It was a very attacking-minded change, and Thomas moved to right-back for the remainder of the match.

We had yet another fantastic chance some ten minutes before the end, this time through Godín, but our captain’s header was saved in spectacular style by Dmitrovic. It looked like we would draw this game, but our team never gives up… and in the 85th minute, Lemar scored following a great assist from Koke to give us the three points at Ipurua.
