Levante: Mariño; Iván López, Feddal, Toño García, José Mari (Camarasa, 64’)(Roger, 83’); Lerma, Verza, Morales, Trujillo; Xumetra (Rubén, 74’) and Ghilas.

Referee: Clos Gómez (Committee from Aragón). Booked the visiting players Xumetra (61’), Rubén (62’), Feddal (92’) and Verza (93’).

THE GOAL:

1-0.  81’. Thomas
receives a pass from Gabi, enters the box, shoots and the ball goes in after Mariño touches it.

The team at the bottom of the table, Levante, arrived at the Vicente Calderón with a populated defence aimed to cover all the possible gaps and stop our team from creating danger. And the truth is that Ruby’s team managed it in the first half and a large part of the second. The team from Valencia did their best to hold out and was lucky because there were up to three red and white efforts that crashed on the posts. Savic, in the first half, and Koke and Vietto, in the second, were the ones to almost score.

As would happen in Vallecas, the entrance of Thomas was providential because the player from the ranks gave greater balance to the midfield and his was the play that opened the scoreboard. He received a pass from Gabi and decided to look for Mariño’s goal thanks to a corridor and put the finishing touch to his bravery with a low shot that entered after hitting Levante’s goal. A goal that was worth its weight in gold because it made Atlético de Madrid leader in the first round of 2016.
