Kun Aguëro rejoins the group and will be ready for the match at Anoeta

Mario Suárez trains normally

The Atlético de Madrid first squad trained for nearly two hours at the Majadahonda Sports Complex. The positive news of the day was the return to work of Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero, who has left behind the muscular problems that he had been feeling since last Saturday and which forced him to ask for a substitution in the match against Osasuna.

The pain in his right hamstring is now a part of the past thanks to the efficient recovery program drawn up by the Club Medical Services and, barring an unexpected setback, the player will be available to Quique Sánchez Flores for this Sunday’s match against Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium.

Another of the players who practiced without problems was Mario Suárez, who despite ending Wednesday’s training with problems, was able to complete the morning session as normal.

On the other hand, junior academy players Koke and Borja did alternative work alongside physical trainer/therapist Oscar Pitillas. The scare of the day was centred around Diego Costa, who retired early after taking a knock in his right ankle that set off the alarms, although in the end it doesn’t seem to be anything too serious.

The team did physical work to get warmed up, then moved into ball release drills, and ball movement in groups of six. Afterwards, the group was divided up to play small-sided games, and they wrapped up the session with shots from the penalty spot.
