WITH 43 MATCHES PLAYED

Koke becomes the Atlético player with the most games played for the Spanish National Team

With his participation against Russia, in the match corresponding to the round of 16 of the World Cup in Russia, our player beat the 42 matches played with 'La Roja' by Fernando Torres and has become the Atlético player with the most games played with Spain.

Jorge Resurrección 'Koke' continues making history at his 26 years. The young 'rojiblanco' talent, who is already among the ten Atlético players with more games in the history of our club, has beaten this Sunday Fernando Torres as the Atlético with more games in the Spanish National Team with 43 matches played.

His debut for the Spanish National team came on 14 August 2013 against Ecuador. Our player played the last 13 minutes in Spain’s win in these friendly match. From that moment on, Koke has become a permanent presence on the list of the Spanish Team coaches. At only 26 years old, Koke has already played two World Cups and one Euro.

Our midfielder, which has already played three matches in this World Cup, beat a legend both in the Atlético de Madrid and in the Spanish Team, and became the red and white player with more matches defending the Spanish shirt. Fernando Torres scored some decisive goals with Spain in the UEFA Euro 2008 and 2012 finals and played a total of 42 matches with the national squad representing our team. Torres debuted in 2003 against Portugal and played his last match with the Spanish National Team still being an Atlético player against Iceland in 2007. Despite not being part of the Atlético de Madrid squad, Fernando showed his ‘atlético’ gene by celebrating the UEFA Euro 2008 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup with flags and scarves of our club in the celebrations of the national team through the streets of Madrid.
