Giménez stars at the Calderon
The Uruguayan completed his first official match with the red and whites with a good performance and was very organised defensively.
Jose Maria Gimenez, one of the new faces this summer brought in by Diego Pablo Simeone, made his debut in official competition in front of his fans at the Vicente Calderon. The defender, who joined from Uruguayan club Danube, started the match against UD Almería, in the absence of Joao Miranda who has a fever.
Gimenez was one of the starts of the under 20 World Championship in Turkey. Despite his youth, he is known for his reliability and his versatility, which allows you to play both as a full back or a centre back.
The defender played 90 minutes alongside Godin and the center of the defence "I am very happy for the victory and my first minutes of game with the Atletico shirt. I especially want to thank the team for the confidence they has given me," he said.
