Gabi : "I congratulate my team for the tremendous effort"
As the authoritative voice of the changing room, Gabi spoke after the Spanish Super Cup in the Camp Nou and praised the incredible effort by all his teammates who were so close to winning the title.
Still on the pitch, where the Atletico players sportingly waited to see their opponent collect the Super Cup Trophy, Captain Gabriel Fernandez spoke about what happened at the Camp Nou : "I congratulate Barcelona the champions. I also congratulate my team for the tremendous effort. The decisions left a bitter taste but it’s not worth saying more ," he said about the controversial moments in the game.
After intense and equal 180 minutes , the double value of the away goals gave the title to Barcelona despite the great performance shown by Simeone’s footballers . "I’m happy with the work of my team, the hard work and I congratulate Barcelona. We’ve played the game we had to and I'm proud of my team." Said Gabi.

Despite competing against a team that were clear favourites, the team did not lose neither of the two games. "We lost the final that is what counts but hopefully these two ties serve us for the future. We have earned the respect of everyone. Barcelona has respected us and we managed to stand up to them. Hopefully we can continue on this line" concluded the Spaniard.
