Fran Mérida, the big novelty as Atlético de Madrid return to work
Regenerative session for those who started against Levante
Atlético de Madrid returned to training a day after the victory over Levante with a regenerative session for those who were starters. These players worked out in the gym while the rest of the squad did work on the pitch. The main novelty was the return of Fran Mérida who, after recovering from arthritis in his left ankle, rejoined the group work normally.
On the other hand, Míchel, Noguera and Regalón, from Atlético B, and Celso, goalkeeper for Atlético C, practiced with the first squad. Godín did alternative work in the gym while Koke had a rehabilitation and physical therapy session. Afterwards, both took the pitch to do specific work with Oscar Pitillas.
Those who did not play against Levante began their work with some running and then moved into 4v2s and physical strength work. After this, they played some ball possession games and worked on shots on goal. The day ended with a practice game across the width of the field.
It should be recalled that Atlético de Madrid and the reserve squad will travel to Tangiers on Tuesday, April 26 to take part in the inauguration of the New Stadium in this Moroccan city. The organizers want Club Atlético de Madrid to be present its two biggest teams to play in friendly matches. Atlético de Madrid B (3:30 pm, Moroccan time) will take on Ittihad Riadha for the debut match at the New Stadium in Tangiers. At 5:30 pm (Moroccan time), upon the conclusion of the friendly played by Antontio Rivas’ squad, the first squad will take the pitch against Raja Club Athletic.
For this scrimmage, Quique Sanchez Flores has left Godín and Koke off the matchday list, as both will remain in Madrid to continue recovering from their respective injuries. The squad list is formed by the following 23 players:
