Diego Godín receives medical clearance and trains with the group without trouble

The Atlético de Madrid first squad trained for almost two hours at the Majadahonda Sports Complex. The big news was the presence of Diego Godín with the group after being given medical clearance before the start of the session. The Uruguayan centre-half participated in Wednesday’s session without any problems, which means that if Quique Sánchez Flores deems it fit, the ‘charrua’ will be able to travel to San Sebastian.
Atlético B players Abel and Miramón practiced with the first squad. Sergio Agüero continued to do alternative work and in addition to working out in the gym, also took the pitch with Oscar Pitillas to do some running. Mario Suárez and Koke retired from the training after the physical circuit with hamstring problems which don’t seem to be too serious.
The team began with a physical circuit under the orders of Jordi García, and continued with an odd number drill on the full pitch of ten players against nine. On one side were: Joel between the posts; Valera, Perea, Ujfalusi, Antonio López; Reyes, Assunçao, Raúl García and Simao. Facing them were: Pulido, Juanito, Domínguez, Filipe Luis; Abel, Tiago, Camacho, Alberto Perea; Fran Mérida and Diego Costa.
After this, they did more fitness work with Jordi García, Miguel Peiró and Fran Escribá, in groups, before playing a practice match on the full pitch. De Gea did specific work with Emilio Álvarez, the goalkeeper coach, while Joel and Asenjo played in goal. Without bibs were: Asenjo; Perea, Ujfalusi, Godín, Antonio López; Reyes, Tiago, Camacho, Simao; Fran Mérida and Diego Costa.
