Diego Godin extends his contract until 2018
The center signed the renewal of the contractual relationship with our club until June 30th 2018. Godin says he feel wanted at the Calderon and highlights the commitment of the club to build a solid project.
Diego Godin and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement to renew the contract of the Uruguayan international until June 30, 2018 . The Atletico Central defender is one of the key pieces of the group which he joined in the 2010-11 season and has since become one of the leaders of the squad and one of the star in the titles won by the club in recent seasons.
The Uruguayan said he was "happy and very pleased to continue more years in this club. This is my home. They make me feel great despite being away from my country, my home, my friends. What better than to be here with people who love you and makes you feel like one of them."
Diego Godin also explained the recipe that is leading the team to achieve goals and highlighted the strong commitment of the club to bolster the squad: "We are a group, strong and solid with great togetherness, hard working and solidarity. I think this is not achieved so easily. It's a club that is showing seriousness, wanting to continue with this project, both with all the guys who are renewing and with the coach, who was the first to take the initiative and extend. And I think this is good for everyone, especially for the club" he says.
José Luis Pérez Caminero, the Sporting Director defined Diego Godin as "a very important player in the field and reinforces the consistency of the group in the dressing room. With its renewal, and the ones recently signed it shows our commitment to keeping together the group that has brought so much joy."
