Diego Forlán works at the same rate as his teammates

Mario Suárez and Ujfalusi also rejoin the group

Atlético de Madrid continued to prepare for this Sunday’s clash with Levante on Wednesday. The session was held behind closed doors at Estadio Vicente Calderón due to the technical test the team is doing on the new ball for Nike.

The main novelty was the presence of Diego Forlán alongside the rest of his teammates. The Uruguayan trained at the same rhythm as the rest of the squad and showed that the periostitis in his left tibia, which kept him out against Espanyol, is a thing of the past. Also training with the team were Mario Suárez and Ufjalusi, who had been unable to practice on Monday due to different reasons.

For his part, Tiago, with the Club’s permission, did not train. Also missing were Fran Merida and Koke, who are recovering from their respective injuries. Additionally, Diego Godín worked out apart from the group with the team physical trainer/therapist, Óscar Pitillas, due to a muscle strain. The reserve squad was represented by Noguera, Atienza, Batres, Iago and Sergio Marcos.

The session began was some light running by all the team members, except for the three goalkeepers, Iago, De Gea and Joel, who did work with goalkeeping coach Emilio Álvarez. Afterwards, all of the players carried out ball possession drills, physical exercises with finishing, crosses with finishing and, to finish, played a small-sided game.
