MATCH PREVIEW | ATLÉTICO DE MADRID – FC BARCELONA

December kicks off with a massive clash against Barcelona

The Wanda Metropolitano hosts a massive LaLiga match as our team faces FC Barcelona on Sunday at 9 pm CET.

What a start to December we have, Atleti Family, as our team faces FC Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday. The match is to be played at 9 pm CET.

The Catalan side are the current LaLiga leaders and earned a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund and a 2-1 away win against Leganés in their previous games. The last time we met with Ernesto Valverde’s side in Madrid, the clash ended in a 1-1 draw. Our last victory against FC Barcelona was in the Champions League, in a magic night in 2016 that we all remember in which we won 2-0. In the return leg at the Camp Nou, we secured the qualification to the European competition’s semi-finals despite a 2-1 loss.

Leo Messi is our opponents’ captain and leader, although they have many sensational players, such as striker Luis Suárez. It will be a very interesting match-up between the league’s best defence and attack. We will also enjoy a fantastic clash at both ends of the pitch between two of the world’s best goalkeepers, Oblak and ter Stegen.

Both sides will meet again in a month’s time, at the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in Jeddah on Jan. 9.
