THE BELGIAN RECOGNISED THAT ATLETICO SUFFERED IN A COMPLICATED MATCH IN VALENCIA

Courtois: "It is important to have scored an away goal"

Thibaut Courtois said after the draw in the Mestalla, that the team "played a good game” against a tough Valencia side that made things very “difficult". He also stressed the importance of scoring an away goal ahead of the "complicated" return leg.

Courtois said Valencia caused many difficulties for the red and white’s. "I think the second half we suffered even though we scored a goal. They have come at us and put in lots of crosses. We've had it tough. I 'm in the game to stop and that’s my job” he said.

As stated by the young keeper, the goal by Raul Garcia will have a great impact in the return game. "The important thing is that we scored a goal. The return will be a very tough game but with an away goal we’re better off," he said.

Valencia have improved since the Pizzi took over and the fans were ”very supportive". "With the new coach Valencia play better. In addition, today the fans have been supporting them much more. Now we’re thinking about Saturday's match against Barcelona which will also be very hard."
