THE YOUNG KEEPER BROKE ANOTHER RECORD

Courtois enters the history books

The Belgian goalkeeper managed to exceed the 800 minutes of Abel Resino without conceding a single goal at home and extended the record to 820 minutes without picking the ball out of his net at home.

Since Lamah’s goal on October the 28th 2012 until the goal from Xabi Prieto's in the last game against Real, Courtois has become part of the history of the rojiblanca club. A total of 820 minutes without conceding a goal at the Vicente Calderon make it the longest time a keeper has been unbeaten in the long history of the club.

The hard work of each and every one of the members of the squad has enabled Simeone’s Atletico team to record 14 consecutive victories in front of their own fans. All 820 minutes without conceding rojiblancos have allowed lots of points to be scored, placing them in positions of honor in the national league championship.

Since coming to the banks of the Manzanares in summer 2011, Courtois has demonstrated why he is considered one of the best young goalkeepers in Eurpoe. The Belgian goalkeeper has won the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in his time at Atletico. These collective merits now see him beating a legend like Abel Resino.

His good work between the sticks see him leading the Zamora Trophy in the league. No doubt his success will be shared by all the Atletico squad.
