THE PLAYER HAD COMMUNICATED HIS WISH TO JOIN THE ENGLISH CLUB

Chelsea will meet Diego Costa’s buy-out clause

Both entities have reached an agreement whereby the London Club is liable to meet the full amount of the buy-out clause.

Diego Costa communicated his wish to be transferred to Chelsea FC at the end of last season and today, the two entities have reached an agreement whereby the London Club is liable to meet the full amount that figures as the buy-out clause in the contract between the player and the Club.

The Brazilian striker came to Atlético de Madrid in 2007, and was loaned to Celta de Vigo, Albacete and Real Valladolid. He subsequently returned to the red and white Club for the 2010-11 campaign, winning the UEFA Super Cup against Inter. In the following season’s winter market, he was loaned to Rayo Vallecano, returning in 2012-13 to our Club to win the King’s Cup and the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea. His performances in the last campaign contributed to be League Champions and led him to be called to play with the Spanish National Team, with which he competed for the recent Brazil World Cup.

We wish the best of luck to the football player in this next step of his professional career.
