A GOAL IN THE LAST MINUTE OF THE MATCH GAVE CHELSEA THE WIN

Chelsea defeats Atlético

Our Champions League debut in the Wanda Metropolitano didn’t go as planned. Griezmann scored the first goal of the match, but Morata equalized in the second half and Willian scored the winning goal, in the last play of the game.

Griezmann is going down in the Atlético de Madrid history books. He scored the first ever LaLiga goal in the Wanda Metropolitano and did it again in the Champions League. Forty minutes had passed when Courtois, an old friend of ours, got the ball from the back of the net, after the Frenchman scored from the penalty spot. Before the goal, both teams were disputing possession and creating dangerous plays. Chelsea had three great chances, after Kanté sent a shot to the post and Oblak saved Morata and Hazard’s shots.

On the other hand, Griezmann almost scored before the penalty and Correa nearly doubled our lead, right before the referee blew the whistle for halftime. In the second half, Atlético started off strongly with a Saúl header, but Chelsea gave it their all to tie the match. Morata tied the match with his head, after a cross from Hazard. Even though our players gave it their all and tried to score the second, Chelsea was the team that came out victorious after Batshuayi scored the winning goal in the last play of the match.
