Atlético, King of the Carranza
Atlético de Madrid became the King of the Carranza Trophy after winning against Sampdoria thanks to goals from Saul and Giménez.

1-0. 30’. Saúl scores with a right-footed drive that’s close to the post from a shot by Héctor that hit the crossbar.
2-0. 70’. Giménez scored from a corner Kick bounced by Carlos Ramos from the right.
Atlético de Madrid won the Carranza Trophy, it’s the ninth they have in their showcases, first team to achieve it, after beating Sampdoria by 2-0. Saul put our team ahead after half-an-hour of play and Giménez, on 70 minutes, scored the second from a corner kick. Last test before the official start of the season on Tuesday with the Spanish Supercup.
Atlético de Madrid took the field of the Ramón de Carranza with a different starter team than the one that beat Cádiz in the semi-final. Diego Pablo Simeone decided to try another team and they responded perfectly to Sampdoria. With Saul leading in attack plays and in defence too, and with a secure defence that left no gaps for the Italians in the first half, the team took control of the game. Saul warned on 10 minutes, and then Raúl Jiménez headed to make Viviano intervene. On the third notice came the goal. Saul scored from a ball that Héctor had sent to the crossbar.
In the second half, the match followed with same script, with Atlético dominating and with more chances on goal. Raúl Jiménez, in his debut as an Atlético, continued looking for the goal, but kept finding the Italian goalkeeper in his way after resuming the game. Saul and Alderweireld warned just before the goal from Giménez from a corner kick by Carlos Ramos.
Good match for Atlético de Madrid against a rocky rival, Sampdoria, who had beaten Sevilla out in the semifinal. In the third and fourth place, Sevilla won Cadiz 3-0.
