COMMITMENT TO INNOVATE

Atlético de Madrid, Telefónica join forces at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

We explore new ways to enhance our fans' experience through their Telefónica home devices.

Spain's King Felipe VI and Primer Minister Pedro Sánchez on Monday visited Telefónica's stand at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where they witnessed firsthand the joint efforts from the telecommunications company and Atlético de Madrid to explore new ways of interacting with our fans through our technology provider's home devices.

The visit took place before Telefónica's presentation, in which the company announced the work they've been developing with a small group of partners, all of which are innovation leaders in their business areas, including our club. The strategic plan is to create several pilot experiences, called Living apps, that coordinate the interaction possibilities that artificial intelligence offers with the telecommunications company's devices, in order to create unique experiences for their clients.

This initiative is part of the collaboration between Telefónica and Atlético de Madrid that started with the Wanda Metropolitano project and that was further strengthened on Feb. 12, when both companies signed a parternship agreement until the 2022-23 season.

Telefónica CEO José María Álvarez Pallete, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Telefónica CDO Chema Alonso and Telefónica Brazil CEO Christian Gebara participated in the event.
