Atlético de Madrid sign a strategic alliance with Al Ain FC (United Arab Emirates)

The presentation will be held on Thursday 11 at 1 pm at the Vicente Calderón

After signing a collaborative agreement with Thai club Muangthong United, Club Atlético de Madrid will take another step forward in their process of creating strategic international alliances, including a new member in their network of allied clubs: Al Ain Sports & Cultural Club from the United Arab Emirates, which belongs to Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a descendant of the famous royal family Abu Dhabi de los Al Nahyan.

In its Brand internationalization strategy, and their eagerness to drive bilateral relationships with other countries, the ‘rojiblanco’ organization has worked hard to introduce Atlético de Madrid into other emerging markets, with great economic potential and a growing interest in football, and the United Arab Emirates has clearly been one of their focal points.

Thus, after China and Thailand, the ‘rojiblanco’ institution will strengthen its ties with a Middle Eastern country to consolidate their positioning in another very important influential area in the world, and increase the number of supporters that are familiar with the team and its players.

The presentation ceremony will once again be carried out simultaneously in Madrid and Al Ain, the Arab Emirates city which is located in the eastern region of the Emirates, south of Abu Dhabi and east of Dubai, right on the border with Oman.

The signing act in Madrid will take place on Thursday 11 November at 1 pm at Estadio Vicente Calderón, just as it will in the Emirates, where the hosts have selected the VIP Room of the Club’s headquarters to celebrate this important event.

In Madrid, D. Enrique Cerezo, (President of Atlético de Madrid) will formalize the deal, accompanied by Doctor Khalid Mohamed Abdulla (Managing Director of Al Ain), Don Salem Al Shamsi (Director of Al Ain) and by a representative of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Spain.

Simultaneously, D. Miguel Ángel Gil Marín (Managing Director of Atlético de Madrid), and D. Emilio Gutiérrez (Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication) will have travelled to Al Ain, where they will represent the ‘rojiblanco’ club in the signing act, which will be presided over by Don Majid Al Owais (Assistant Managing Director of the Al Ain Sports & Cultural Club), as well as other members of the Board of Directors of said organization. Also in attendance will be representatives of the Arab Emirates Football Federation, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Spanish Ambassador in the Emirates, Gonzalo de Benito, who will attend the act to show support of the organizations in this important project.

Al Ain Sports & Cultural Club was founded in 1968 with wide support from the directors of this institution, which provided them with all of the necessary resources to convert the team into one of the best in the scope of professional football.

Al Ain was the first professional football club in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the first in the region to obtain ISO certification, in addition to the Khalifa Award for Excellence, prizes which are only awarded to the organizations that stand out for the quality of their work.

As they’re the only club in the city of Al Ain, they enjoy many advantages, amongst which is the fact that they own two stadiums in accordance with international standards for athletic facilities: Khalifa Bin Zayed and Tahnoun Bin Mohamed stadiums, as well as six training academies, equipped with the latest technological advancements: Al Yahar, Al Hair, Al Moqam, Mazyad, Zakher and Al Qattara. In addition to these, the club has a Football Academy and a Primary and Secondary School where the youngest players who aspire to become professional footballers one day are formed.

It should also be highlighted that Al Ain is a Club that features a varied array of sports, as they also compete in handball, volleyball, swimming, track & field and ping-pong.

Considering the achievements reached to date, the wish of the Al Ain directors is to continue growing as a club to satisfy the ambitions of all of their club members and become even more competitive in the sports arena in order to win more titles

For this reason, the bond with Atlético de Madrid represents a huge opportunity for this organization to take a jump in quality in all spheres, as therefore Al Ain will have an important reference point in Europe, a team with a long tradition in this sport, from whom they can learn to improve, and they will enjoy a privileged platform from which to project their image in other countries, wherever the other members of this alliance may be, and they will be able to take advantage of the synergies and resources offered by this international network.
