Atlético celebrate the Holiday dinner in Los Ángeles de San Rafael
All of the ‘rojiblanco’ members met at the Golf Club
Club Atlético de Madrid celebrated their habitual Holiday dinner on Monday 20 December at the incomparable premises of the Los Ángeles de San Rafael Golf Club, in Segovia. All of the staff members of the organization were in attendance, including the first, second and third squads, as well as employees, representatives of the junior academy, directors, financial entities, sponsors and media outlets.
Highlighting the attendees was new first squad player Elías Mendes, a Brazilian central midfielder who will be presented on Tuesday 21 and who arrived in Madrid on Monday morning and passed his physical exam before finalising the contract.
Unable to attend this Christmas meal were Mr. Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Managing Director, and Mr. Emilio Gutiérrez, Director of the Sales, Marketing and Communications Department, who couldn’t accompany those present due to flight problems caused by the inclement weather in Western Europe.
Nevertheless, Mr. Clemente Villaverde, Club Executive, took the stand to read the words written by Gil Marín. The absent Managing Director highlighted the progress made on the new stadium project, as well as the international strategic partnership project which is an alliance currently formed by professional clubs from China, Thailand, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, with the hopeful addition of teams from Korea, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, the United States and England in the works.
Mr. Enrique Cerezo, President of Club Atlético de Madrid, acted as host and also gave a speech, emphasizing the privilege of working at a club such as Atlético and the feelings that are transmitted throughout all members of the organization. He also reviewed the success achieved in 2010, highlighted by the two titles won: the Europa League and the European Super Cup. He then recalled the difficult situation that the squad was going through at precisely this time last year, and how the players found the spirit and motivation to work hard and move forward, thus turning the situation around. He wrapped things up by thanking everyone present for their hard work, commitment and dedication, and sending a message of optimism and confidence that the players will take the Club back to Champions League this coming season.
