Atleti earn important away win in Moscow

Our team beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0 on Tuesday in the Champions League. Joao Félix and Thomas got the goals.

Atleti earned an important 2-0 win at Lokomotiv Moscow’s RZD Arena on Tuesday. Joao Félix – who scored his first Champions League goal – and Thomas Partey were the goalscorers.

Our team kicked off the match strongly, collecting several chances in the first few minutes. Morata had a header saved by the keeper and Costa fired wide from close range in what was a massive chance for Simeone’s men. A few minutes before half-time, Atleti had a double chance, first through a left foot shot from Morata and then through a Felipe header, but both tries were denied by the keeper. It was a strong first-half performance, but we were unable to take the lead before heading to the changing room.

That didn’t last long, though, as our team hit the ground running after the break. Joao Félix scored just three minutes into the second half, and ten minutes later it was Thomas Partey who gave us a two-goal lead. Félix delivered a phenomenal ball to Diego Costa, who provided the assist for the Ghana international. An hour into the game, we were two goals up. But Lokomotiv Moscow weren’t going to give up and they were close to scoring through a fantastic double chance that was met by two outstanding saves from Oblak. Lemar – who had just come on for Costa – also had a good chance to score that was denied by the keeper. The home side tried their best to get back into the game, but Atleti stood strong to earn an important European away win.
