Atleti earn 2-0 win over Osasuna in last home game of 2019

Our team won 2-0 against Osasuna on Saturday at the Wanda Metropolitano. Morata and Saúl were the goalscorers.

Atleti earned a 2-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday in the final match of the year at the Wanda Metropolitano. Morata and Saúl got the goals to pick up three important points.

The game was preceded by a tribute by the fans and both sets of players to our legend Juanfran Torres. After that, the game kicked off, and the first half was all ours. We had many chances throughout the first 45 minutes to take the lead, mainly from Morata, Joao Félix (whose header struck the crossbar), Thomas, Lemar and Saúl. Osasuna goalkeeper Herrera made several fine saves to prevent our team from scoring.

Simeone made two changes during the opening 15 minutes of the second half, as Lemar and Manu Sánchez – who made his first team debut on the night – made way for Correa and Herrera. Atleti kept pushing and finally found the breakthrough 68 minutes in. Trippier delivered an excellent cross and Morata headed it home. The goal had finally arrived, and after that Osasuna’s defence opened, allowing our players to find more spaces. As a consequence, Saúl – who had switched to left-back – gave us a two-goal lead thanks to a fantastic chip. Atleti’s great match found the reward it probably deserved, and Simeone took off Joao Félix and brought on Mario Hermoso for the final minutes. The last home match of the year ended shortly thereafter as our team picked up three important points.
