Aranzubia: "I was looking forward to playing"

The goalkeeper made his debut with the red and white’s in the friendly against Cordoba. Satisfied with his debut, he said at the end that "the important thing was not result, more about getting minutes".

Dani comment that he felt good in his first game for Atletico Madrid, although "it wasn’t a busy game for me. In the first half we controlled the game then in the second because of the changes, the dominated us and got the draw, a fair result."

The keeper acknowledged that "the result was not important, the important thing was that players got minutes and we got to look at some of the academy lads who have worked hard. It's a great game to pick up pace."

"I wanted to play, an injury had prevented me from being in the earlier squads. It was a month since I’ve een out but it’s nice to get the debut and be available to the coach," he said.

Eager to continue working and helping the team, Aranzubia explained that "there are no individual goals in football, in the end there are team goals and then each player tries to be prepared for when he is called upon. The team is really good, it is normal that those who are playing keep their place, the rest of us have to work for when our opportunity comes."

Finally , the Atletico keeper who appreciated the support from the stands in the Archangel stadium. "There were quite a few Atleitco fans there and I guess they went home happy, hopefully we’ll be back once more to make them happy," he said.
