At the request of the footballer from Navarra, our club has reached an agreement with Athletic Club for the transfer of the player, who on Monday, travelled to Bilbao to undergo the medical examination and sign his new contract with the entity from Bilbao. After eight seasons belonging to our club, Raúl García will begin a new stage as an Athletic player.
Raúl came to Atlético de Madrid in 2007 from Osasuna and has been one of the important players in the last stage of the red and white team. He has been an example of delivery and struggle defending our team’s shirt. He has won the Europa League Championship in 2010 and 2012, the UEFA Super Cup in 2010 and 2012, the King's Cup in 2013, the League in 2014 and the Spanish Super Cup in 2014. He has played 329 official matches with the red and white shirt, being one of the players who has defended it most, and the player with the most international matches, 71, beating Adelardo Rodríguez.
The midfielder from Navarra has been an U21 international and senior player for Spain during his time with Atlético. He premiered with the national team on August 29th, 2014, against France in a friendly. Now, Raúl García starts a new stage in Athletic and the club wishes him the best of luck.
The player will meet the media to say goodbye in an event that will take place this Tuesday, September 1st, at 13:00, in the VIP lounge of the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
