A goalless draw at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez against Getafe. Atletico controlled the game and had the better chances but Codina was on top form in the Getafe goal. The home side had a man advantage for the last 20 minutes and 2 men for the closing stages couldn’t beat the visitors and the spoils were shared.

Atletico Madrid went out on the pitch at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez with very clear ideas, looking to win the game from the off. Adrian started in place of the injured ArdaTuran, Simeone's team started ith a 4-3-3 system, with the Spaniard linking up with Diego Costa and Falcao.

From the onset Atletico were electrifying, and after 5th minute Diego Coast linked up with Koke and Falcao but they couldn’t open the scoring. Soon after, a very active Adrian had the second chance in the 12th minute when Diego Costa was involved in a rapid counter-attack that ended in the Spaniard's shot deflected for a corner.

Atletico were the strongest side in the first half, the team had control of the ball and came close when Koke pulled the ball back from the edge of the area and to Gabi but his shot was stopped by Codina. Getafe did not know how to stop Atletico. To make matters worse, Pedro Leon, who had recovered for this game, was forced off injured after quarter of an hour. His replacement, Lafita, was the player who had the first shot on target but Courtois saved without problems.

In the final stretch of the first half Atletico came close from a set piece. Koke put the ball in the area and Falcao's header was stopped by Codina. So both teams returned to the changing rooms all square at the interval.

After the break, both teams came out with renewed vigor and eager open the scorign. Falcao took 15 seconds to register his first shot of the half and a few minutes later Getafe tried their luck through Barrada but Courtois responded well.

It was an electric start, which encouraged a party that had clear color rojiblanco sharpness though not wanting players Simeone, who again had a couple of chances in the first fifteen minutes, one of Filipe with a shot that cleared as could Codina and another with a nice combination of Adrian with Falcao, the Colombian squirmed and let out a low shot which rightly Codina said.

The key moments of the second half were when Mario Suarez was sent of for his second yellow with 20 minutes left to play. Simeone continued to look for the 3 points and brought on Óliver, Cristian Rodriguez and Raul Garcia but they were unable to find the break though and things went from bad to worse when Godin received his second yellow card leaving Atletico with nine players for the dying stages. One point was the prize for a game that Atletico deserved more from taking them one step closer to the Champions league.
