THE SPANIARD MADE HIS DEBUT 10 YEARS AGO AT THE CAMP NOU

10 years of Koke in Atleti’s first team

Our captain made his official first team debut on Sep. 19, 2009 during a LaLiga game against Barcelona.

Jorge Resurrección ‘Koke’ made his Atleti first team debut 10 years ago today. The midfielder fulfilled his childhood dream on Sep. 19, 2009 at the Camp Nou during a LaLiga match against Barcelona.

10 years on, Koke is now our captain, has played 420 games for our team (which make him the seventh player with the most matches in our history), he has worn the Red & White shirt 87 times in Europe (more than any other footballer in the history of our club) and is the youngest Atleti player to have reached 400 games.

Moreover, if the midfielder plays on Saturday against Celta, he will tie with another Atleti legend – Juan Carlos Arteche – as the sixth player with the most matches in our history (421). Koke could in fact crack the top five soon, as Isacio Calleja’s tally stands at 425 games.

During these 10 years, our captain has been key to our team’s successes in the last decade, having won one LaLiga title, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, two Europa Leagues and two UEFA Super Cups.
